CSI -Case File No. 4 Challenge - WONDER

I found this cool new challenge blog -- you should check them out!

It is SO MUCH FUN to play along! Here is the link: CSI = Color Story Inspiration

Here is how it works - they give you a theme, along with other items to include in your layout - and then you work your scrappy magic! Here is my entry for CSI's Case File No. 4

This is a picture I took of our new Puppy. I just love how she was looking off into the distance and I really WONDERED what she was thinking about - coming into our home, and being part of our family.

Here is a close up of the Dusty Attic Swirl that I painted with Adirondack Gold Paint - then sprayed it with Black Gold, Aquamarine and Verdigris Glimmer Mists - then hit it "here and there" with Golden Goddess Glimmer Glam. I used the Gold Paint to edge the Black Bazzill Cardstock, and used Glimmer Glaze in Aloha to edge the photo, and Oil Slick to edge the light teal cardstock.

Here are some of the "goodies" I used two different patterned papers to create stripes, the beige letters are from Bo Bunny's Et Cetera Chipboard collection. There are LOTS of Prima and Petaloo Flowers. Along with Kaisercraft Blossom Resin Flowers and Sparklets. Bo Bunny's Candy Jewels added some more bling too!

A Tim Holtz Tag created the perfect journaling spot.

This is the CSI File -

I think I was able to SET THE SCENE "Through the Looking Glass" by including
all of the colors in THE SCHEME
For the EVIDENCE: I included a Frame, and I used Wet Mediums and Stripes, along with Rhinestones
For the TESTIMONY - I "got Curious" in the journaling and "Stepped" the Title "Wonder" which is what I was trying to show as the "feel" of the Layout.

Magical Challenge ~ Creative Scrappers# 192

Here is my version of Creative Scrappers Challenge # 192

SEE - I told you Scrapbook Challenges were addicting!! ( well at least for me!)

OKAY - here is the Sketch I used for inspiration ( 'cause we all need a little from time to time! LOL!)

So - I took this in a little different direction....

I hope you like it as much as I do! I am so happy with how it came out!

Instead of Stars - I went with Hearts <3 ! I used more of the paper and embellies from My Mind's Eye, Stella and Rose collection, some Bazzill, and these ADORABLE fabric THICKERS from Amy Tangerine!! In keeping with the stitching detail on the letters - I decided I needed to do a little hand stitching on this layout too! Of course I had to add some BEADS from ArtC's Natural Bead collection!

I just LOVE all the colors in this collection! You can get a good look at the distressing on all the edges - I again used Ranger Distress Stain in Rusty Hinge - you can really see it here on the photo - COOL huh!? Oh - and this is a good close up of the hand stitching too. See the little flap I folded over and did a Zig-Zag stitch on?! FUN!! The tag you see is sprayed with Tattered Angel's GLIMMER MIST in Golden Terracotta and Sunflower - I used a PRIMA Swirl mask to get that cool look!

Here is another close up of the stitching and beading, and the cool canvas letters! Oh - I used Ranger Distress Stain in Barn Door Red to give the color and dimension to the red hearts too!

Here is an angle shot -to show you the dimension. I added the center photo with HELMAR ZapDots - LOVE THEM!!!

Creative Scrappers Sketch # 190 ~ Princess!

Here is a layout I made following Creative Scrappers Sketch # 190

Have you ever tried following a sketch? They are really fun! I LOVE to try to follow along - and add my own spin on the suggested concept.

If you've never tried it - go for it - Creative Scrappers is a fun site to go play on!

WARNING ! Sketches can be addicting - and in my opinion - that is NOT a bad thing!

Okay - so first - here is the sketch:

and now here is my take on this design -

This is a layout featuring one of my favorite photos of my 50th Birthday trip to one of my favorite places Walt Disney World. I am so blessed to have such a WONDERFUL Husband ( of almost 30 years!) and YES, he does make me feel like a Princess!

I used papers and lots of embellishments from My Mind's Eye - Stella and Rose Collection. The base is Marble "Joy" Crocheted Paper and the others are from Gertie "Friends Forever."
I love how the colors pick up all the colors in the photo!!!

Here are a few close ups of all the details:

I just LOVE to play with The Dusty Attic Chipboard elements! This one is their Baroque Frame

Oh - what didn't I do to it! First a coat of Claudine Hellmuth paint in Altered Orange, then some Ranger Distress Stain in Rusty Hinge, then some Ranger Distress Embossing Powder in Broken China, then a little Adirondack Gold Paint dauber - I just LOVE how you can build the dimension and texture on DA's Chipboard!

I added the word KISS from Tim Holtz's Word Sticks that I colored with Ranger Alcohol Inks. The word PRINCESS is a "DOO DAD" from my FAVORITE Local Scrapbook Store Scrap-a-Doodle Doo! I covered it with Ranger Distress Stickles in Vintage Photo. There are also some Prima Sculpture Resin Flowers scattered here and there!

I used Cosmo Cricket's Tiny Type letters - fun stuff! Another NEW "LOVE TO DO" of mine is to INK all my edges with RANGER Distress Stain - I don't know what I did before this cool stuff came out ( THANKS TIM HOLTZ!!) It makes edge distressing soooo easy!! I used RUSTY HINGE everywhere! LOOK - I ever ran it along the edge of my photo!!! I LOVE THIS STUFF!!

I took a photo at this angle so you could see all the lovely dimension!

Well, THANKS for looking - I hope it inspires you to GO CREATE something!!!

Packing for the Candyland Crop weekend!

Well - there are only 2 more SLEEPS to count, until it is time to spend the weekend with all my Scrappy Friends at Scrap-a-Doodle Doo's CANDYLAND Theme Weekend Crop! There are OVER 90 of us attending this event, and I am even teaching a class too! I can't wait!!

Every crop - I promise myself that I am NOT going to bring so much scrap stuff - BUT try as hard as I might - things never work out that way - and I end up ALWAYS being a member of the "OPC!"

What the heck is the "OPC" you ask? - well - My friend Pattie introduced me to this special organization, which many of you probably belong to, and don't even realize it - you see those letters stand for "Over Packers Club" and YES I AM PROUD TO ADMIT - I AM AND it seems like I ALWAYS will be a HAPPY CARD CARRYING MEMBER! LOL!!

I have about 10 projects packed - plus a good part of my embellishments, tools, all my Glimmer Mists (hey - can't leave home without them!) my Cricut too - (I SWEAR I am going to use it this time!!!) Plus who knows what else - as I never know what I'll feel like doing/creating - so there was lots of "just in case" packing going on!

The Challenging part for this crop -was where to "stage" or hold all the crafty goodies until I am ready to load them in the car. This never was an issue before when our precious Lily was around - she was truly a Princess and NEVER touched anything that wasn't hers or that she wasn't supposed to..... BUT - Little Miss Maggie - the little 14 week old fur ball that we have now is a WHOLE "nother story!! LOL!

So - where to put all that Scrap Crap until it is time to pack the car for the weekend - so that it didn't have little teeth marks on it?

I came up with a solution......Please - just don't let anyone turn on the water!!

Yes, that is our big Raspberry Jacuzzi Tub - circa 1991 - Hey atleast it is getting some use and Maggie is too little to jump over the side! Oh - and that is about half of the "stuff" I'm bringing - so if you are going to the crop - and if you forgot something - please see me - I'll probably have it with me! LOL!

Hmm.... maybe I should start to think about - and pack some clothes next!

Hey Mom, What's for dinner?

Here is what I made for dinner last night - it was really good!

"Semi- Homemade" Kung Pao Tofu Stirfry

Here is how you can make it too - ( and if you can't do Tofu - use boneless chicken!)

This made @ 4 servings.

Ingredients:

Olive Oil and Sesame Oil to stirfry in

1 pack of extra firm Tofu - pressed and well drained - cut into @ 1" cubes

1 Large Onion - cut into 1" pcs

@ 3 -4 Cups FRESH cut up veggies ( I bought a pack from the produce dept at my local supermarket - it contained bokchoy, red and green peppers, onions, celery, carrots) *feel free to us whatever you have on hand or like.

@ 3/4 C Chunky Peanutbutter

2 Tablespoons Rice Wine Vinegar

1 Teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes

3 T plus 1/4 C Soy Sauce

1 pack of Annie Chin's Kung Pao Noodle Bowl ( that's the "Semi" part!)

I browned the tofu cubes in some olive oil, sesame oil and added @ 3 T of soy sauce - along with some sesame seeds that I had on hand. I removed them from the pan added a little more of the oils, and then stir fried the onions and the rest of the pre-cut fresh veggies.

While they are cooking - prepare the Noodle Bowl as directed - EXCEPT - cut the noodles in 3rds before heating - and DO NOT DRAIN the 1 Cup of water after cooking. Instead - ADD the Sauce pack and the Peanut butter to the bowl and stir until blended

When the veggies are tender crips - don't over cook - add the Vinegar, 1/4 C Soy Sauce and the pepper flakes, then add the mixture in the noodle bowl. Stir and let simmer until flavors blend, and sauce thickens a little. Put into your serving bowl and sprinkle with peanuts that come in the package with the noodles.

A great addtion would be some water chestnuts, and scallions - (but I didn't have these on hand.)

Snow Loved! REVERSE Canvas project

This is Sherri Caramico, back again with my second post as January's Guest Designer for Helmar and I want to share a very special project with you.

I decided to create another reverse canvas project - believe me, once you try one - you will get hooked on this fun, dimensional decorative piece of art!

First, please allow me to give you a little background on the photo that I used in this project.

We were blessed to have an AMAZING and LOVING Portuguese Water Dog, named Lily
( aka Turnabout's Princess Water Lily) share our lives for the last 11 1/2 years. She was diagnosed with TCC / Bladder Cancer in July 2011, and spent the last 4 months of her life putting up a tough battle, endured chemo, and was spoiled as much as she could be, by all members of our family. On November 12th, at 3:00am, my husband and I had to take her to the vet and do what was best for our girl, and the hardest thing we have every had to do. I am thankful we were able have the strength to finally give her peace, and we know that she is waiting for us over the Rainbow Bridge.

I found a photo Lily from the winter of 2009, and it made me smile - I just knew I had to do something special with it. PWD's have hair, not fur, and pretty much become a giant mitten with clumps of snow sticking to them when they go out to play. Lily also liked to sniff snow, and playtime in the snow usually ended with me sitting on the floor, melting clumps of snow with a hairdryer! LOL!

I used lots of great products on this project - here are just a few ( I'll list them all at the bottom of the post for you!)

I started with a 12" x 12" Canvas, and gave the edges, sides and some of the center a good coat of Gesso, I also added some randomly to the chipboard snowflake.

Before spraying with various shades of Blue Glimmer Mist, I applied some True Snow to corners of the frame to give them some texture.

After the Glimmer Mist, I used Viva Decor's Silver Metallic Modeling Creme for the first time! OH MY!! This was LOTS OF FUN!! - I used a plastic glove and applied it with my finger tip - kind of like finger paint!!

Look at all those layers! I achieved them with various thicknesses of Helmar ZAP DOTS - my new FAVORITE 3D Double Sided Adhesive Foam! Notice the shimmery Silver Modeling Cream both on the "frame" and I even used it to "distress" the the edges of the photo and paper too!

Here is the finished project - I just LOVE the layers and the way the whole project turned out. Our Lily was "SNOW LOVED" and I think this is the perfect way to honor this picture of her, and a great memory of the the LAUGHTER and JOY she brought to us.

Here is a close up to show you all the beautiful elements, colors patterns and textures and a close up of our much loved loyal friend.

The Helmar ZAP DOTS really helped me to achive that layered look, which worked great within the "shadow box" feel of the reverse frame. ALSO Helmar's Gemstone Glue worked PERFECTLY to adhere the white beaded trim, and the AMAZING Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive was used to attach all other elements - OH -and the large Snow Flake in the top left, and the blue star at the bottom right were given added dimension with Helmar's LIQUID SCRAP DOTS !

12"x12" REVERSE CANVAS CLASS
~featuring Little Yellow Bicycle's WINTER TWIG Collection!

Come and learn some fun new techniques, and leave with a BEAUTIFUL project that will be ready to hang or display.

By using the back or reverse side of a 12 x 12 Canvas, you will create a 3-D Frame, or shadow box effect. This enables you to capture your favorite winter memories in a very UNIQUE way.

We will be using Glimmer Mist, (Chalkboard and Original) and Viva Decor Modeling Creme. We'll make our own flat but shiny faux "Thickers" using our Xyron and Fairy Dust! (this is soo cool!) You'll learn 2 different ways to use True Snow and lots MORE FUN STUFF!

Each Student must bring to class - Your basic tool kit - INCLUDING or PLUS ~ a HEAT GUN, Splat Mat, 12x12 Trimmer, Scissors, Tape Runner, Liquid Adhesive ( like Helmar 450, Fabritac, or Zip Dry ) FOAM POP DOTS, TWEEZERS and either bring or have an idea as to what size photo or photos they want to use - ( my sample has a black and white 4x6 vertical photo -but a color photo would look good too - I would suggest only (1) 4x6 photo -either vertical or horizontal - or possibly 2 smaller photos)

OPTIONAL items: ( which will be provided by the teacher - but you may want to use your own) any BLUE GLIMMER MIST ( I used Chalkboard Teal High-heel, along with Patina, Autumn Nights and Bubbles. Any BLUE Distress INK ( I used Chipped Sapphire, Tumbled Glass, Broken China) and an applicator - Small Xyron "X" and adhesive - all for your personal use, instead of sharing - if you prefer.

Helmar January 2012 Guest Designer "HOME"

Hi everyone! I am so HAPPY to announce that my first post as HELMAR's January 2012 Guest Designer is UP on their Blog! Check it out at over there or below!

I'm Sherri Caramico and I am SOO EXCITED to be here - as this is my first post as a GUEST DESIGNER for my most favorite adhesive company HELMAR !! I am very grateful for the opportunity, and I LOVE working with Helmar products!

Before I get to the "sticky, crafty Helmar Goodness" let me first tell you a little about myself.

I am a mother of 2 wonderful sons, who are 22 and 17, and the wife to my amazing husband of 29 years-my high school sweetheart! Both my husband and my sons support my scrap habit and endure my endless requests to take their picture! I know someday they will thank me when they can look back on all the wonderful memories I have preserved!

I work full-time in the corporate world, but enjoy a creative escape whenever I can fit it in. I've been scrapping since @ 2004, and I guess you would say that my style is full of dimension, texture and color. I am a scrapbooker who has become more and more interested in altered art and mixed media projects. I am not afraid to stretch and reach outside of the standard box - although I will tell you a little secret, I still remember that fear and the funny feeling that came over me the first time I ever cut and tore a 4 x 6 photograph!! ( I know you know what I am talking about!)

I am a member of the Scrap-a-Doodle Doo Design Team in Ramsey, NJ, and one of the lead educators at the store.(one of the few LSS left in our area.) I was selected to be part of Cheerio's Eat Healthy campaign, and made a video about my "Passion for Scrapbooking" which was filmed at the store back in 2009. I always try to gently push them to reach outside their comfort/creative zone, to try something new-usually the messier the better! I feel a sense of accomplishment when I can help someone who once said "I could never do that" change their thinking to "Wow, I did that!" after trying something new in a class that I was teaching.

Since I won Helmar's facebook contest to secure this coveted spot back in November with my "HOME" reverse canvas project ( for which received the most votes - and lots of wonderful compliments too! THANKS!)- I've decided to share some info on how it was made -with hopes to inspire you to give it a try!

First off, I started with an 8" x 12" blank canvas - and turned it over to work on the back. It becomes a frame/shadow box this way. I painted a nice thick coat of Gesso on the frame and sides - and just kind of brushed the center canvas portion "here and there."

Next I took the scrap or punched out piece of chipboard from The Dusty Attic "Wrought Iron Trim Set" # DA0547 ( I save everything!) and literally filled it with an nice thick layer of Gesso that I applied very liberally - okay - kind of in gobs!

Here is one completed side - see the texture! It is going to LOVE being sprayed with Glimmer Mist!

I also brushed some gesso on the Grungeboard letters that I cut out with my cricut, and on the chipboard embellishments, and allowed everything to dry well overnight. The letters were later sprayed with Olive Vine Glimmer Mist ( one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE COLORS!)

Next it was time to add some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist to the frame - I love blending and adding LOTS of color - I always start with the lightest color ( in this case Wheat Beer in the bottom left corner) and added Candy Apple Red and Chocolate Covered Cherries for the brown tone. I also distressed the whole frame with Ranger's Black Soot Distress Ink pad.

Here is a close up of all that Glimmery Goodness!

I made paper flowers out of white cardstock that I colored using the same Glimmer Mists that were used on the canvas - I used a paint brush to add the color to the edges of the flowers - If you've never dipped your paintbrush into a bottle of Glimmer Mist - you don't know what fun you are missing!! LOL! The flower was glued together with Helmar's 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, which was also used to adhere the Grungeboard "HOME" to the canvas too!

LOVE THIS STUFF!

All of the elements on the frame were attached with Helmar's 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, and Helmar's Liquid Scrap Dots worked PERFECTLY for the metal button centers on the flowers - I think this is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE products!


A definite MUST HAVE to add dimension with ease!


Here is my finished piece. I really hope you like it and it inspires you to try a reverse canvas too! So much fun!

My last "SCRAP HAUL" of 2011!

Well, I couldn't let the Holidays go by without a little treat for myself - so while I had a few days off last week, I went to my FAVORITE Local Scrapbook Store - yup, you know it "Scrap-a-Doodle Doo!" to see what I could find!

I brought my new little Princess Maggie with me to meet my friend Stephanie, and she comfortably fell asleep on the floor while Mommy did a little shopping - ( sorry, no photos here - my purse and phone were in the car - oops!)

Anyway - I wanted to share my "END of YEAR HAUL" with you - and please don't be jealous - you too can purchase these items - either at the store ( 37 Swan Street, Ramsey, NJ 201-818-7060) or - at Scrap-a-Doodle Doo's On Line STORE! So don't feel left out! LOL!!

When I got home - I snapped a pic of my lovely haul - here you go!

I LOVE all the "NEW STUFF" they got in from The Dusty Attic! Stephanie and "THE DOO" team always try to have the latest and hottest new products available!!

Look at those FEATHERS!!! My Glimmer Mist is begging me to use it to spray all over them!! How about that cool CHICKEN WIRE -- that is going to bring me hours of FUN!! A girl can never have too many swirls - so I pick up two packs of them! And I couldn't resist the Lacing Tash that was designed by my friend Natasha!

I "scored" me some new Scor-Tape ( LUV IT!) and couldn't pass up the Donna Salazar/Spellbinders Rose Creations Die, and the Tim Holtz Decorative Strip Die too! I also picked up some Silver Modeling Cream and Donna Salazar Fairy Dust -to use on my next project - a Reverse Canvas Class at THE DOO on February 4th - so save the date - it has a Winter theme and the Silver Cream and Fairy Dust really looks AWESOME on it ( sneak peaks coming soon!)

I want to also wish all of you a very HAPPY, HEALTHY, and CREATIVE 2012!

Hi everyone !

I just wanted to pop in to say that I hope everyone has enjoyed a wonderful holiday and hopefully you were able to spend some special time with your loved ones.

I also wanted to wish you and your families ONLY THE BEST in 2012 - much LOVE, HEALTH and HAPPINESS!

I haven't had a chance to post in a little while - between the holidays and our "new addition!"

You see, I've been a little busy since last Saturday! We brought home a new puppy on the 17th, as our home and hearts were just so empty after loosing our precious Lily in November.

Reel Life's Princess Magdalena of the Sea ~ aka MAGGIE - has found a place in our home, and in our hearts, and is filling our days!

My Hump Day Haul! Dec 7, 2011

Hi Everyone -

I wanted to share my latest HAUL with you - from my friendly LSS Scrap-a-Doodle Doo!

I actually made this purchase over the weekend - but this is the first chance I had to take a pic and post!

SO - I am thinking about doing a class with all these great products -- I've got a REVERSE CANVAS idea rattling around in my brain and think the SNOW will be the perfect medium to make this look so COOL it will be HOT!! LOL!!

So here is a pic of my new STUFF to add to my ever growing Scrap Stash!

There is a 12 x 12 Canvas Pack from Canvas Concepts, a paper pack from Little Yellow Bicycle's Winter Twig Collection, some beautiful Bazzill clear buttons, KaiserKraft Blue Sparklets, True Snow, some white bead and silver snowflake ribbon too, and a SNOWFLAKE "Doo Dad" too! ( I added the Tim Holtz grid blocks to this Haul - 'cause I NEEDED them! LOL!! I am sure more goodies will find their way into this project - along with Gesso and some Smooch - so watch for future updates and Sneak Peeks for this upcoming class -- I'm thinking FEBRUARY - so take lots of beautiful snow pictures between now and then - so you can use them!

Snowfall Holiday Mason Jar

Hello everyone!

This Saturday I taught a class at my FAVORITE LSS Scrap-a-Doodle Doo, in Ramsey, NJ!

It was a 2 MEGA Project "Jingle Jam" Event, and my friend Anna Zuniga also taught a beautiful Painters Tray project too!

I thought I'd share a few pictures with you as a little Holiday gift - from me to you!

I used the BEAUTIFUL BoBunny SNOWFALL Cut Out page to cover the top and made a Mini Album to hang on the side.

The Mason Jar had a hole drilled in the bottom/side where I fed the lights into the jar, then added some acrylic gems to add to the lovely brown and blue color scheme.

I hope it inspires you !! ENJOY!

I want to THANK everyone who voted for my entry in the HELMAR Guest Designer contest last week!

I am so HAPPY and EXCITED that I WON!

There were many beautiful entries, by lots of talented artists, and I am HONORED to have received the most votes.

I LOVE working with Helmar adhesives - and can't wait to be a Guest Designer for them! ( So watch for more info to follow!)

If you didn't see it yet - here is the project that I submitted:

This is a REVERSE Canvas project. I took an 8x11" canvas and turned it over, creating a frame.

I covered the wood with Gesso -quite thickly in spots. I even used a pc of chipboard as a stencil to fill in and create the frame's texture. It was colored with Glimmer Mist, and Glimmer Glam, along with some Black Soot Ranger Distress Ink. The 2 flowers are white cardstock that I also colored with Glimmer Mist and glued them together with Helmar Scrap Dots. The letters for HOME are sprayed with Glimmer mist - and edge with Oil Slick Black Glimmer Glaze. I stitched them onto the canvas, after gluing them first.

Here is a close up of some the detail - along with the handmade paper flower.

I hope you like this project - STAY TUNED - I "feel" a REVERSE CANVAS CLASS is going to be coming to Scrap-a-Doodle Doo early next year - THINK SNOW, SPARKLE and FUN!!

Hubby and I are booked on a 14 night DISNEY Hawaiian Cruise that sets sail on OCT 14th, 2012 - that is just 2 days before our 30th Wedding Anniversary!! When I saw this BEAUTIFUL Graphic 45 Tropical Travelogue paper - I just KNEW I HAD to HAVE IT - -- NO wait I just KNEW that I "NEEDED" IT!!
(as with most scrap products - it is a NEED thing with me!) SO - don't cha think it will be the PERFECT paper to scrap our Trip of a Life time! I bought the PAPER PACK, STICKER SHEET and the 2 COORDINATING CHIPBOARDS!!! WOO HOO!!
While I was there - I had to pick up some Tattered Angels GLIMMER MIST ( aka my "elixir of life) - JUST LOVE the new ICICLE BLUE,MONSTER MASH,, L.E.D. RED, and BUBBLE LIGHT GREEN - I think they will go GREAT this this line too!
Check out the HOT NEW THICKERS PLEASE!! The GOLD "Sunrise" are just so SHINY - and LOOK at the 2 NEW ones from amy tangerine!! WOWZERS!! the "HELLO" fonts are printed fabric, like a canvas texture - with faux stitching - I LOVE the brown and the green! SOO COOL!

So - what do you think! Is this a COOL HAUL or what??

CHIPBOARD is SWEET!!

I hope you all had a WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING and were able to spend time with your families!

Welcome to my BLOG -   I want you to know that I am THANKFUL for ALL OF YOU too!

SO - Since I LOVE using CHIPBOARD in my projects and I LOVE Blog Candy too - I thought I would combine the two of them in this post !!

In case you've ever wondered - "What the heck can I do with Chipboard?" This POST is for YOU!

And, since you have been so nice to stop by - I'd thought I'd offer you a little TREAT! Please continue reading and see the SWEET details and photo of the give-a-way at the bottom of this post!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I AM SO EXCITED!!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I read about a Design Team call for a company in Australia. It is called Imaginarium Designs and is a new Chipboard Company formed in 2010. It is the collaborate effort of a Mother and Son who both love designing and working in the Papercraft Industry. ( I REALLY Love the Mother and Son part - as I am a Mom of 2 sons!)

One of the criteria for applying for their DT is to create a BLOG ENTRY which posts 10 of my favorite projects featuring chipboard - so here is my post!! ( Hello Imaginarium Designs!!! )

AS you will see - I LOVE using chipboard!! It adds dimension ( and I am all about that!! ) and is very versatile. It can be painted, dry embossed, heat embossed with powder, Glimmer Misted, sanded layered - an more - wherever your imagination leads you - It is so much FUN!!

So with 10 projects to show you - grab a cup of coffee or tea and sit back an relax, and join me on this Chipboard Journey!

Without further ado ...... and in no special order -here you go:

#1 "Beautiful La Jolla"

This is one of my most recent layouts documenting our first ever trip to California. I wanted to highlight the Blues and Browns of the ocean and the wall, but had to find a way to make my Hubby's RED shirt work with the beautiful papers I selected. I also wanted to show you how much fun and how versatile Chipboard can be!

I ran the big flourish (above) through my CuttleBug first to give it texture. I gave it a light/thin coat of gesso then sprayed it with Patina Glimmer Mist, and added some Mermaid Glimmer Glam, along with some Waterfall Glimmer Glaze -"here and there." To tone it all down and make it a little more rustic, I used Ranger Distress Embossing powder in Fired Brick to add some more RED to the layout.

Here is a close up so you can see the cool result!
I just LOVE these Wrought Iron Trim Chipboards too! I used the same technique on these 3 pcs as I did on the flourish - but I did not run it through the CuttleBug first. I also backed all of the chippies on a light blue paper, then cut around the edges with an Exacto Knife, so that they popped and stood out a little on the busy patterned paper. ( that part was a little time consuming -but I think well worth it - don't you?!)

Next up #2 "ALL ABOUT ME!"

I made this page for a challenge to scrap a page only about yourself. I must say, this was probably the first time I've ever done that - it was a little scary -but in the end so much fun! The Chipboard used in this layout was from various collection in my scrap stash. There is actually a Chipboard Tag under the Chipboard "49" that I covered with patterned paper to make the numbers on top of it "pop" a little. The letters and #s were sprayed with Glimmer Mist. Have you every scrapped a page just about YOU?
If you haven't GO AHEAD - I give you permission - it really is quite fun actually!

On to #3 is a "Chipboard Album"

This is a gift I made for a very close and dear friend who turned 50. The album itself came with only 3 pages - but I wanted MORE! So I cut chipboard to size and added 3 more pages - and bigger hoop rings to hold it all together. All the pages were covered with different colored/patterned papers. The letters on the cover are Glimmer Misted Chipboard letters as well! ( Oh, by the way - he LOVED his gift!! I think that Personalized Handmade gifts really show you care ;o) )

#3 "YOU and ME"

This photo was from our family trip to Walt Disney World to celebrate my parent's 50th Anniversary.

The Chipboard hinge in the bottom right corner was first inked with Fired Brick Distress Stain, then a coat of Tattered Angels' BE Positive Glimmer Glam, and finally some Vintage Photo Distress Stickles. The pearls for brads were made with a Viva Decor' Bronze Pearl Pen

I have to show you a close up of what I did with the swirl on the upper left corner -

I inked the leaves with Peeled Paint Distress Ink, the Birds with Faded Jeans Distress Ink, and the vine/swirl with Fired Brick Distress ink. I added Waterfall and Orange Crush Glimmer Glaze by Tattered Angels, along with Espresso, Be Positive, and Mermaid Glimmer Glaze, then some Shabby Shutters, Vintage Photo, Dried Marigold and Frayed Burlap Distress Stickles!! I am so pleased with how it came out!

#4 "May your SMILE..."

This is a layout I made to remember our son's honor awards ceremony, prior to his college graduation. He received the Marlin Fitzwater Scholar Medallion, and graduated Magna Cum Laude!
Needless to say - we are VERY PROUD!
Oh - what didn't I do to these Chipboard pieces!! The large flourish on the top left and small sprig of leaves on the bottom left. I ran them through my CuttleBug with the Textile Folder and then they were sprayed with an Aqua Glimmer Mist, then touched here and there with Versamark, and heat embossed with Ranger Distress Embossing powder. I then hit them with a little "Mermaid" Glimmer Glam. I did the same to the Chipboard letters that spell "SMILE" but without the heat embossing or powder. There are 2 more pieces of chipboard on this layout - they are a golden rust color, as they were also sprayed with Glimmer Mist - then coated with Dimensional Glass to make them so shiny.

 #5 - Listen with your Heart - Canvas

This is a canvas that I made for my 92 yr old Grandmother for Christmas. I used a magazine clipping that she had cut out and saved, as it reminded her of her brother. It talks about the Wise Old Owl and the importance of really listening. I used lots of Glimmer Mist to color the canvas.

The Tattered Angles Chipboard Swirl was sprayed with Glimmer Mist, and then painted with Glimmer Glam to give it lots of sparkle. It makes a nice perch for the Glimmer Glass Owl - don't ya think!? The charm from Tim Holtz reads "Listen"

A Chipboard Heart, sprayed with more Glimmer Mist made a great addition along with the Glimmer Glass wings I think. You can also see a close up of the Chipboard Letters that were sprayed with more Glimmery Goodness! Chipboard LOVES Glimmer Mist! ( If you haven't already figured that one out! LOL!)

#6 A Women of Valor -

This was a Canvas Gift I made for my Boss -to honor and celebrate his Mother, whom he had lost earlier in the year. When he showed me this wonderful photo of when she was a young girl - I just knew I had to do something to honor the photo, and his lovely Mom. ALSO - notice the shadow on the bottom right of the photo - that is his Grandfather taking the photo of his Mom - what a treasure!!

LOTS of Chipboard going on here! There are lots of Tattered Angel Chipboard Elements, as well as other flourishes, and hearts. All have been sprayed or painted with Glimmer Mist ( I love dipping my brush in it too!) and/or layered with Glimmer Glaze or Glam.

Here is a close up of the swirl with the shimmer of the Glimmer Glam! All of the chipboard used on this piece really adds to the many interesting textures and layers.

#7 BROTHERS -

I made this little Mini Chipboard Album to capture photos from a fun Bar-B-Que spent with my husband and his 2 brothers. I love it when we all get together - there are always a lot of laughs and smiles. This also became a kit and class that I taught at my local and favorite Scrapbook Store - Scrap-a-Doodle Doo

Besides the book itself being chipboard ( and covered with paper) The tag on the left is chipboard as well as the swirl on the cover. The tag was inked with Ranger Distress Stain, and Stamped. The Chipboard flourish was also inked - and then heat embossed with Ranger Distress Embossing, and finally coated with Ranger Distress Crackle paint too!

I was trying to get that aged metal look - I think is succeeded don't you?!

#8 - Sons

This layout was made for a Purple/Green/Cream challenge ( that I won!!) I LOVE the smiles on our faces, and am so happy I was able to capture them and cherish them in this layout. I used pre-finished green chipboard hearts and swirl - and then covered the letters with paper and inked them for the word SONS. Speaking of that word - I'll let you in on a little secret - the "S's" were from 2 different alpha styles and I couldn't find an "N" so I cut of one leg of an "M" to make it work - Have I mentioned how versatile Chipboard is? ;o)

#9 - NEW YORK, NEW YORK! ~ Canvas

This is another canvas piece. I was commissioned to make this for an associate. She wanted NYC as the theme, and black and red for the colors. The NYC Chipboard Letters have that stencil look and I love how they just POP on the canvas.

They were painted with SILVER Ranger Distress Crackle paint - I think they really took on a metallic look and feel - perfect for NYC!

#10 - THE DAVID

This is one of the FIRST times I ever used Chipboard and as you may be able to tell - I've been hooked ever since!! This layout is from our 2007 trip to Italy. I am a BIG Fan of Michelangelo and was in AWE of his MASTERPIECE "The David" as our guide referred to him. He made the stone come alive - the details were breathtaking. The chipboard in this piece was sprayed with Glimmer Mist and I even tied some fibers to the "D" and the flourish.

Look at the close-up of this flourish - the Terracotta Glimmer Mist just loves to shimmer on it! The clear Dew Drops pick up the color underneath and look almost wet - giving more dimension to the chipboard.

Dec 3rd Jingle Jam Class at THE DOO Sneak Peek!

Anna Zuniga (My friend and co-educator at Scrap-a-Doodle Doo) and I will be teaching classes there on Saturday, DECEMBER 3rd, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. There will be 2 "mega-projects": You will work with me to create a lighted Mason Jar project featuring the Bo Bunny "Snowfall" Collection and with Anna to create a wooden Painter`s Tray featuring KaiserCraft`s "December 25th" Collection. Beautiful La Jolla

Hi Everyone - just wanted to share this layout with you. It is my first real attempt at stitching - and it was so much FUN - I hope it inspires you to try it. I didn't use a template or pattern - I just pre-poked holes along the swirls as evenly spaced as possible and stitched away! Of course I couldn't "just stitch" so I added a few beads to the stitching to tie in the red of my hubby's shirt.

I am sorry, but I do not remember the name of the paper line that I used. I selected it from my "stash" as I thought the blues and browns really picked up on the beautiful colors of the rock wall and the Pacific Ocean. This picture is from our summer vacation, when we were in beautiful La Jolla California for the day.

I actually only used 3 pcs of paper. The swirls were cut out of the center of the blue paper you see as the beginning base. The brown and blue pattern is paper # 2, and the word "Memories" the watch and the paper behind the chippes was from piece #3.

I used a water tearing/distressing technique to "cut out" the paper swirl designs from one piece of paper, and along the edges of the brown and blue pattern sheet too. Those edges were further distressed with Vintage Photo Ranger Distress Stain ( one of my new favorite products!)

I also wanted to show you how much fun and how versitale Dusty Attic Chippies can be -(this big one is called Foliage DA0506) - I ran it through my CuttleBug first to give it texture. I gave it a light/thin coat of gesso then sprayed it with Patina Glimmer Mist, and added some Mermaid Glimmer Glam, along with some Waterfall Glimmer Glaze -"here and there." To tone it all down and make it a little more rustic, I used Ranger Distress Embossing powder in Fired Brick to add some more RED to the layout.

I just LOVE the Wrought Iron Trim Chippie by The Dusty Attic too! ( DA0547 below) I used the same technique on these 3 pcs as I did on the flourish - but I did not run it through the CuttleBug first. I also backed all of the chippies on a light blue paper, then cut around the edges with an Exacto Knife, so that they popped and stood out a little on the busy patterned paper. ( time consuming -but I think well worth it - don't you?!)

The paper watch in the upper right corner was covered with Royal Coat Dimensional Magic, then I bent it to make the crackles. The close up is below.

Mickey Pretzels!

Hi Everyone!

I can't wait to share this layout with you - and I hope it brings a smile to your face, like it does to mine!
(Believe me - I can use a smile these days for sure!)

I made it a few weekends ago at an AWESOME 3 Day Crop Event - hosted by Scrap-a-Doodle Doo!

I used My Mind's Eye Stella and Rose Hattie Collection papers for this 1 page layout documenting our "one of a kind find"on our recent trip to Walt Disney World. I just love the colors.

The edges of the postage stamp base paper were inked with Ranger Distress Stain in Broken China - I love using Distress Stains this way. I made a frame out of the Hattie "Buddies" paper, using a little water and a rolling technique to make the curls, then set the photo of the pretzel inside of it on a different color mat.

The chipboard swirls in the corners were inked with the Broken China Distress Stain, and then hit with a little Vintage Photo Distress Stickles.

I cut the pretzel shape out using Cricut's Carousel cartridge in 2 different sizes with the Hattie "Buddies" paper, then inked it with brown chalk and a little Vintage Photo Ranger Distress Stain. I then used Royal Dimensional Clear Coat to make the bumps for the salt on the pretzels, and after it dried, I painted them with Tattered Angel's Glimmer Glam in Chandelier. I used my We Are Memory Keeper's Big Bite to create the holes and set the eyelets that I used to lace / sew the smaller pretzels onto the layout.

I hope you like this layout and have a smile on your face by now - remember - if you go to WDW - as of now - there is only one place you can get these MICKEY Pretzels - from the cart, across from The Country Bear Jamboree, in Frontierland.

Snowman Tic Tac Holder -INSTRUCTIONS!

So I've noticed that there have been A LOT of hits on my old Snowman Tic Tac Holder post - and I realize there are no Instructions included!!!

This was one of the first classes that I ever taught - and it really is a cute idea -a perfect little "somethin' - somethin'" for the Holidays! SOOO I dug through my "archives" LOL! - and found the info to share!

HERE is the DEAL though - in return for sharing this with you - I would LOVE to receive a comment to this post!

So - here you go....

SNOWMAN KISSES TIC TAC HOLDER I used a stamp set from Close To My Heart (my website is http://www.scaramico.myctmh.com/ ) They are no longer available - but I am sure you can use any snowman stamp that has a nice round belly!

TO make The Cover:

**Cut 1 piece of card stock 1 3/4”x 2 ¾” and set aside ( snowman panel)

Cut 1 piece of card stock 4 1/2" x 3".
Cut 1 piece of patterned paper 4 1/2" x 3"
Score each of these piece 2" from the left edge, and 2" from the right edge (you will have a 1/2" spine in the center of each piece of paper).

Cut a piece of coordinating ribbon about 14" long and glue it down to the center of the back of the patterned paper (side to side - opposite direction of scored spine).

Glue the patterned paper to the cardstock – the ribbon will be sandwiched between them.

Decorate the snowman panel ( 1 3/4" x 2 3/4" piece of cardstock) ; stamp the snowman, and color in and add Prisma Glitter ink the edges -etc...

Punch out the snowman's belly with a circle punch. Position on the cover and punch the same hole on the cover .

Stamp or write "to" and "from" inside the cover on the left hand side and stamp a few snowflakes there and on the poem too.

The Tic Tac Container:

**Peel the label off the container front, top and back. (OPTIONAL!!!)

**Use rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball to remove the stamped date. (OPTIONAL!!!)

**Print the Snowman kisses poem either on cardstock or computer paper and adhere it to the Tic Tac box.

**Adhere the Tic Tac box to the cover with a glue dot, or double sided adhesive.

Here is the poem to include - I just printed it out on cardstock and stuck it to the Tic Tac boc.

Snowman Kisses
He’s cute, cuddly
and full of good wishes.
He wants to give you
these snowman kisses!

Our Beautiful Princess

After a 6 month battle Our Beautiful Princess Water Lily lost her fight against TCC/Bladder Cancer at 4am on Saturday morning, November 12th, 2011.

I am grateful my husband and I were able to find the strength to give her the peace she deserved. It was one of the worst nights and hardest decisions we ever had to make.

We have been trying so hard to keep her with us as long as possible, as the 11.5 yrs we had with her were certainly NOT enough. She was a real trouper through 6 chemo treatments, many medicines and numerous trips to the vet.

It is so hard to loose a piece of our HEARTS. ♥

Today we are together remembering the wonderful addition she was in our lives.

Here is a layout I made a while ago, documenting her love of Ice Cream.

She enjoyed this cone while on vacation in Top Sail Island, NC. ( We tried to take her on vacation with us whenever we could. She was a well traveled dog, and besides vacationing in NC, she has visited Boston, MA and Pigeon Forge, TN too!)

Rest in Peace our beauty girl. You will always have a place in our hearts. Thank you for all the UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, and LILY KISSES you always gave so freely. You were always there when we needed you and there will be a big hole in our lives without you. ♥

Happy Halloween!

Just wanted to stop in and wish everyone a very

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

It was a CRAZY weekend here in NEW JERSEY - we had a HUGE Snow Storm on Saturday - I don't ever remember it snowing in October - and I believe I heard on the news that it has ONLY snowed in Central Park (NYC -@ 25 mins from me) for a total of 4 times, since THE CIVIL WAR!! So it was kind of a "FREAK" occurrence - which I guess is a great description around this time of year!

The trees in our area still have their leaves on them - and this made it a very dangerous situation, as they helped to hold onto the heavy wet snow, which caused many many trees and power lines to go down. Many people - and quite a few of my good scrappy friends are still without power and heat - and I hope it is restored VERY SOON - as it is quite chilly outside. I heard that over 3 million people were without power at one point! I personally feel lucky and blessed that we only suffered a few downed tree branches in our yard, while many others were not so lucky.

I did have a great time on Saturday during the storm -as I was lucky enough to be able to spend it at THE DOO with some of my scrappin' buddies! Throughout the day - many of us had phone calls from home, warning us of the treacherous situation outside - but since we were safe and warm in our favorite Local Scrap Store - we stayed put for most of the day and night - and only ventured out for home - near midnight- when the snow had slowed down somewhat - and the streets were plowed and less crowded. I think this was a good decision, although, I must say that the ride home was VERY SCARY !!! I felt like Alice in WONDERLAND - Kind of like I had arrived in a dark, gloomy and treacherous world that was still hauntingly familiar. I am so thankful that my 22yr old son was still awake - and was able to "talk" his old Mom home - through streets with VERY LOW hanging tree limbs - not just branches - covered with snow, and a few downed electrical lines - not to mention very few street and traffic lights!! I was so afraid one of many leaning/hanging trees would come crashing down on my car, and had wished I had taken the longer, highway route home, but am very thankful that I made it home safely.

Well - it wouldn't be a complete post, if I didn't include atleast one photo ......AND.....
It wouldn't be Halloween, if I didn't dress up - or put on some kind of a costume!! I am usually the only one in my office who does - and they are use to my strangeness by now - so here you go!

Green Hair, Halloween Eyelashes, orange jewelry and my Halloween jacket - BOO!!

I hope I didn't scare you all too much!! LOL!! SO that was my TRICK - now here is a TREAT - check out these AWESOME Cupcakes made by my LOVELY Niece Danielle - (who is simply AMAZING!)

Paper Bag Album Class Nov 11th Sneak Peek!

Hi Everyone!

Here is a sneak peek of my next class at THE DOO...

It is a "Mini" Album - that is NOT SO MINI!! LOL!

I made with paper lunch bags as a base - there are 6 bags -3 of them have added flip up pages.

There are a total 20 pages inside the album for photos, etc... and LOTS of flaps and pockets!!! You are going to LOVE IT!!

I'll show you how to make some "faux leather" using TYVEK, and we will be using LOTS of products - like Tattered Angel's GLIMMER MIST, and using Ranger Distress Stains and Inks, Prima Flowers Masks, a "DOO DAD" frame, ZVA Rhinestones, and the paper line will be Et Cetera from Bo Bunny.

This album is quite neutral, and has a little "Vintage" feel. -It would make a GREAT holiday gift, or be a great place to store some special memories!

The Kit included: (1) 12x12 Pc Bo Bunny “Et Cetera” ET CETERA, (1) 12x12 Pc Bo Bunny “Et Cetera” CUT OUTS, (½) 6x12 pc Simple Stories Generations “Together” paper,(1) Black Paper Clip,(1) Clear Gem,(4) Metal Flower embellishments, (1) pc Tulle netting, 1 pc brown beaded trim, 1 pc old dictionary paper.

Additional items needed: Viva Decor BLACK Pearl Pen ( or black stickles,) Ranger Distress Stain "Walnut Stain," or any BROWN Distress Stain, and any BROWN INK Pad or CHALK for edge distressing, Tattered Angels Glimmer GLAZE "Indian Summer," Tattered Angels Glimmer MIST "Pumpkin Spice." 3D Foam/Pop Dots, Fabritac Liquid Adhesive., water & Q-Tips, Bone folder. Water spritzer.

FIRST - Paint Glimmer Glaze on all 4 metal flowers and on clear gem - let dry.

Instructions: SAVE ALL SCRAPS - Cut "ET CETERA" paper at 8”x10” with the Black ETC in the lower right corner ( 8” high x 10” wide) INK the edges. Turn the paper over and tear @ 1-1/2" strip down the right side -*Tear BOTH sides of the length of the paper, and tear the 2 short sides to make an @ 8" pc. INK the edges. CUT the Simple Stories "Together" ½ sheet into a 6”x8” pc for frame.(Set aside for now) Cut out the following on the CUT OUTS - "dream" Tag, Black Bingo card, "imagine the possibilities" *cut around fancy edge. Cut out the "B" "I" and "G" from the RED Bingo card. FOR FLOWER - Tear (2) "circles" from the remaining "Together" (1) @ 3"/largest (1) @ 1 1/2"/smallest. Tear (2) circles from ET CETERA (center layers) (1) @ 2 1/2" & (1) @ 2" - INK all edges of all of the above, including the pc of old dictionary paper. Change the "blue" color on the "dream" Tag to orange, by painting with Pumpkin Spice Glimmer Mist (use a paint brush)When Dry - add the "BIG" RED squares.

TO MAKE the Frame - Center a 4"x6" piece of Chipboard on the 6"x8" pc of "Together" paper. Fold up all 4 sides and crease with bone folder. Tear off corners, and tear @ 1/4" off around all edges. Ink edges with Stain, run Q-Tip with stain along inside crease. Spritz edges with water, and ROLL around a pen or pencil. Let dry. Edges will keep their rolled shape.

To MAKE the FLOWER - One at a time - Spray both sides of each of the (4) circles with water. (not too wet -start our lightly -just enough to make them pliable and easy to wrinkle/shape) take each circle and fold up from the center -like into a bud. Unfold edges outward, pinching as you work your way around the circle to give it dimension - *Circles are layered as -Large Together, 2 ETC -large one dark side up, smaller one light side up - then smallest Together in the center. Once they are dry - glue them together and add Gem in the center.

ASSEMBLY: GLUE the 8x10 pc inside the box with Fabritac. Glue the Dictionary page on an angle in the top right corner. Add the strip of the ETC paper across the top @ 1" from the edge *leave a place to slip the paper clip under. BINGO card is glued to the bottom left. Add the brown beaded trim to the bottom of the "dream BIG" tag, with RED LINE tape. Position all remaining elements ( frame, flower, dream tag, metal flowers, Imagine tag) in the box before gluing . Once you have it to your liking -glue everything down. Glue metal flowers with Glue dots & Imagine Tag with POP Dots. Add BLACK Pearl centers to the flowers. Tie a knot in the tulle & add near flower as shown. The photo opening is 4"x6" - I trimmed my photo to @ 3" x 5" by tearing the edge and then inking with brown stain. I also printed it in Sepia with a faux frame/mat. I think it looks really good - BUT- you do NOT have to print it in Sepia - it is all your personal choice.

I hope this inspired you to create something "off the page"

Another Sneak Peek for Oct 21st Shadow Box Class

Here is another SNEAK PEEK of the Shadow Box Class I will be teaching at Scrap-a-Doodle Doo, in Ramsey, NJ on October 21st, Friday night, at 6:30PM. COST is $35.00 per person

The actual frame opening for your photo is 4"x 6" horizontally. I actually printed out my photo using Photoshop - adding a vintage boarder and Sepia tones, a little smaller than the 4x6 photo paper. it had a white boarder around it - which I then tore @ 1/4 "+ around the edges and inked the tears with Ranger Distress Stain - and then placed it on an angle within the frame-this way you still see the beautiful paper underneath!

The project has a very "Vintage" feel, and elements read "imagine the possibilities" and "always dream BIG"

The frame itself is made of finished black wood, and measures 9 1/2 x 11 1/2 on the outside. Inside work surface is 8 x 10. It has @ 3/4" depth and can be hung up, or positioned on a shelf or table, as it has a back "leg" like a picture frame does too.

You will be using BoBunny's ETC. line, along with some paper from Simple Stories Generations line. I LOVE to mix and match paper lines when the colors and patterns compliment each other so well! We will also be painting with Glimmer Mist, and changing the colors of some of the elements with Glimmer Glaze. We'll use the new Tim Holtz Distress Stains, and I'll show you some cool water distressing techniques to make a cool 3D frame, as well as a layered flower. We will also use Pearl Pens by Viva Decor, along with some Maya Road metal embellishments and some HOT beaded fringe.

Oct 21st Shadow Box Class at Scrap-a-Doodle Doo

Hello everyone!!

Well, it has been a long time since I last posted - and I have to apologize. I was away last month on a belated 50th Birthday trip with my wonderful Hubby!!

We went to Walt Disney World and had a FABULOUS TIME! It was our FIRST week long vacation together without our "kids" in 22 years!! Here is a picture that I am thinking of using in my shadow box. It was taken of Phil and I as we stood on Main Street USA!! ( I played around with it in Photo shop, and it will fit perfectly with the vintage feel of the Shadow Box Project I will be teaching!)

It seems I must have left a little of my creative MOJO, down in Disney, as it has been very hard to start projects since I've been back. Not even the hug that I got from Tinkerbell helped ! I guess she didn't share any of her fairy dust with me :o(

Oh well, I think my MOJO has finally found it's way back, and now I am back "in the swing" of scrappin' - YEAH! I am so excited and can't wait to share this SNEAK PEEK of the next class I am teaching at Scrap-a-Doodle Doo, in Ramsey, NJ on October 21st, Friday night, at 6:30PM. COST is $35.00 per person

The frame itself is made of finished black wood, and measures 9 1/2 x 11 1/2 on the outside. Inside work surface is 8 x 10. It has @ 3/4" depth and can be hung up, or positioned on a shelf or table, as it has a back "leg" like a picture frame does too.

You will be using BoBunny's ETC. line, along with some paper from Simple Stories Generations line. I LOVE to mix and match paper lines when the colors and patterns compliment each other so well! We will also be painting with Glimmer Mist, and changing the colors of some of the elements with Glimmer Glaze. We'll use the new Tim Holtz Distress Stains, and I'll show you some cool water distressing techniques to make a cool 3D frame, as well as a layered flower. We will also use Pearl Pens by Viva Decor, along with some Maya Road metal embellishments and some HOT beaded fringe.

Here is the Mini FLIP FOLD Album that I created - There are TONS of pockets, Custom Tags, and places for LOTS of photos and journaling! Most of the papers will be pre-cut for you too!

In this project, we will be scoring cardstock, making pockets and a pumpkin, and using LOTS of Tim Holtz Ranger Distress STAINS - FUN FUN Stuff!

Vacation FUN!!

Well - we are back from vacation -and it doesn't seem like it has ONLY been just 1 week - as this past week has been a CRAZY ONE! Between catching up on work - passing the torch for the volunteer program I have been co-chair of for the last 8 years, and life in general all helped the week to just FLY on by!

I am now busy helping our Local Scrapbook Store SCRAP-A-DOODLE DOO in our final preparations to attend and vend at the CREATING KEEPSAKES SCRAPBOOK CONVENTION from July 27th to the 30th, and finishing up projects and kits that we will be selling ( SEEK PEEK POST to follow!) I am so looking forward to this event! I've never been to the CKC and we have LOTS of great kits and items we will be selling - I hope to see some of you there!

I wanted to share a little bit of our vacation with you - as we had a great time, and are so blessed to have been able to take this fun adventure together as a family.

WEEK #1 was spent with THOUSANDS of other TEAMSTERS in Beautiful Las Vegas!! Phil spent the day at The Paris Hotel, while Nick, Jake and I spent our days relaxing at The Venetian and doing a little sightseeing on our own. It was OVER 100 degrees every day - some days as high as 109!! But they say it is a dry heat --RIGHT! It's dry because it is so hot - the sweat dries on your skin before you can even feel it! LOL! We did have fun! Even got to hear a speech by Jimmy Hoffa and our Vice President Joe Biden - Here are just a few of the pictures:

Week #2 - we flew from Vegas to LAX and rented a car to drive to Del Mar - It was our first time in California - but hopefully not our last! Of course we had to drive down Rodeo Drive, had lunch on the Sunset Strip, and made sure we saw and took a photo of this:

I really would love to come back to California for a future vacation!

We rented a BEAUTIFUL HOME in Del Mar for the week - I could have spent every minute there - but we did go out and see the sights - San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, San Diego Wild Safari Park - and the San Diego County Fair - ALL of these locations deserve their own BLOG entry - so for now - I will just share photos of the the LOVELY HOME we rented through VACATION RENTALS BY OWNERS - Just click on HOUSE IN DEL MAR / SAN DIEGO You should check it out!! I used the FANCY PANTS "Beach Bum" line to create this FUN SUMMER layered layout -

Here are the "ingredients" : (1) HAMMOCK (Plaid Base/LEFT), (1) PIPELINE (waves), (1) STRIPES, (1) MARINA (Tree Base/RIGHT), (1/2pc) SAIL (yellow/orange), (1) FESTIVE (orange cardstock), (1) PARAKEET (green cardstock) - DMC Embroidery Floss for Sewing, Embroidery needle, SEW EASY tool for paper piercing/pre-sewing, Ranger Peeled Paint DISTRESS STAIN, for edge distressing / inking, Fancy Pants "Beach Bum" Chipboard elements that were GLAZED with Royal Coat Dimensional Glaze, adhesive and 3-D Pop Dots.

INSTRUCTIONS:Bazzill Cardstock PHOTO MATS: FESTIVE (Orange) (2) 4”x6”, (1)4 ¼”x 6 ¼”, (1) 4x4”\ Parakeet (Green) (2) 4 ¼ x 6 ¼ “,(1) 4x6”, (1) 3 ¾ x 3 ¾”, * YOU will also have (1) 4” x 4” mat left from the green dot paper. EDGE DISTRESS ALL MATS and INK with Peeled Paint Distress Stain.

This 2 page layout is full of LOTS of WATER DISTRESSING - I learned this technique from my VERY TALENTED friend NATASHA. Please check out the amazing art on her BLOG - you can also view her TUTORIAL on WATER DISTRESSING and so much more! ( Thanks Natasha!)

LEFT LAYOUT:

Hammock/Plaid is your LEFT Base. At the top right corner @ 2 1/2" in from the rt. edge, run a WET Q-Tip down @ 2 1/2" - Gently TEAR along that line -fold back and INK with Ranger Peeled Paint DISTRESS STAIN. Take the PIPELINE (waves) paper and follow the wave design with a Q-Tip WET with WATER - repeat over and over and gently tear along the wet "line." INK all edges with Ranger Peeled Paint DISTRESS STAIN. Use a Q-Tip & water along all the edges and FOLD/SCRUNCH/PINCH all of the other edges - folding back so the polka-dots show. Set aside to dry. * KEEP all of your SCRAPS. (You will use the polka dot side elsewhere!)

TAKE THE STRIPES sheet and CUT OUT the mini stripes with the orange Beach Bum TOGETHER in one piece. Cut out the Green “BEACH/CHILLIN” along with the WAVES Stripe and orange. Cut out the ENDLESS SUMMER with the polka dots - Edge Distress and INK the edges of ENDLESS SUMMER. EDGE Distress and INK the bottom green part of the wave stripe. Use the WET Q-Tip along the waves and orange section of the stripe - gently tear, and INK all edges - folding and crinkling to show the green underside. Set aside to dry.

RIGHT LAYOUT: Base is MARINE ( Palm Tree on Rt.). Make 2 Double Photo Mats with remaining Orange and Green Cardstock. Edge Distress and INK the edges of the 12 x 6” pc of “SAIL” –THEN “WET” Distress all 4 sides – CRINKLE and FOLD up the bottom left side as well as use the wet Q-Tip to make a “hole” or tear somewhere on the mid to upper right side of that piece. Ink and fold back ALL edges and then when DRY, back the “hole” with Green Dot Paper that has been torn and inked. Take a piece of the remaining Green Dot paper and Edge Distress/Water Distress/INK crumple it for an added embellishment in the lower right corner. CUT OUT the “Pennants” from the STRIPES page.

LEFT LAYOUT:

Assembly: GLUE small piece of Green Dot paper behind tear in upper right corner. ADD Distressed PIPELINE/wave paper on the bottom of the page – allowing plaid to show around edges, and ONLY gluing the sides and bottom –leave the center unglued to slip photos under. Layer Wave stripe on an angle starting at the bottom left corner and angling up on the right, and then crisscross it with the Orange Beach Bum stripe in the opposite direction. POP DOT “Endless Summer” in the upper left corner. ADD the 3 Photo Mats as shown, sliding some of the 2 double mats under the Wave Paper.

SEWING: LEFT LAYOUT – use ORANGE DMC FLOSS. First - Run the SEW EASY TOOL down the left side of the page, also around the top right tear, and a little on the corner of the WAVE paper on the middle right side to “tack” it down. You can add extra holes with your needle if you would like closer stitching. RIGHT LAYOUT - run the SEW EASY TOOL down the left side of the page - and also to "tack" down the piece of green dot paper you adhered to the bottom right corner - SEW these 2 lines with a BLUE DMC floss.

Adhere the GLAZED Chipboard Elements – you can pop-dot some of them if you’d like..
Adhere the cut out banner/flags with pop dots too!

I hope you create a fantastic layout - if you don't have these papers or elements - try these cool techniques with any papers on your next layout! I am SURE it will be AWESOME!

Donuts on the Beach???

Yes!! ~ That's how they do it in Sicily! !

Hi everyone -I hope you are finding a little relief from the HEAT WAVE we are having here in the northeast - or that it is cool where you are!! Thanks for stopping by!

First, a little background on this photo and this layout - We went on a Disney Mediterranean Cruise back in July of 2007. Needless to say, I took LOTS and LOTS of pictures. I am NOT a "quick get it done" kind of scrapper. Now, there is nothing wrong with that - and I kind of envy those that are, but it is just not me - I know, accept and embrace the fact that I will "NEVER BE DONE!"

I scrap photos when the "mood" hits me - or I am inspired by something -and that "something" on this layout was the Fence (which I had in my scrap "stash" for years, and recently "found" again!) and those little ADORABLE Donut Embellishments, by Jolee's Boutique/EK Success - Which I purchased - like all of the rest of the items used on this layout - at no other place than my FAVORITE Local Scrapbook Store - Scrap-a-Doodle Doo !

So - the "story" behind this layout and photo is... We went on a DCL excursion while in Palermo, Sicily to Mondello Beach, with a bunch of other cruisers. We were direct to a fenced in area where they must "deposit" cruise tours all the time. On the other side of the fence was a sidewalk that lead to the road and to town.

The day was HOT, the beach was beautiful, and there was a bakery nearby that sent one of their workers over to the beach with a box of fresh, delicious, AMAZING donuts. I must say - it has been almost 4 years and our family still swears that those were THE BEST donuts that we ever had! I just LOVE this picture of our youngest son Jake enjoying the donut, it captures that great memory!

Another memory of that day ( here is where the fence comes in!) was that while sitting on a beach chair, reading a book, I looked up to see a young guy going through the pockets of a pair of shorts that a fellow cruiser had hooked to the underside of his beach umbrella. I remembered it had been a young family with 2 small kids sitting there - and this guy was NOT the owner of those shorts - nor of the camera he was taking out of the pocket!! I started to scream at him "HEY! That's NOT your camera! Put it back - it's not yours!!!" and he started talking to me in Italian ( like I could understand - right!! LOL!!) and was not putting it back! I then took my beach towel and started swinging it at him - yelling the whole time for him to PUT IT BACK!! I didn't even think about how crazy it what I was doing was, just that this guy had some nerve to take this family's memories from them!! Everyone around me just watched - and the guy finally jumped the fence and ran off down the sidewalk to town! Phil was not happy at all with me for my "brave" - alright -kind of stupid actions - this was a thief in Sicily I was "dealing" with - and it wasn't even my camera !! I was not happy that everyone sitting around me did just that - sit and watch!! The poor family lost all of their photos that were taken on the cruise up to that time - was not happy with their loss either - even though it was pretty stupid to leave it hanging right there in the open. SO - that is my silly fence story and why it is included in this layout!

Now - onto the layout ( If you've stuck with me and through my rambling so far! LOL!!)

The BASE of this layout is one of my favorite new finds - a 12 x 12 glazed chipboard sheet! This one is by BAZZILL and has glazed polka dots. First - I brushed white acrylic paints "here and there." Then I used Tattered Angels Chalkboard Glimmer Mist in POLKA DOT PINK , INCHWORM, ALASKAN SALMON, TEAL HIGH HEELS, and GRAPE APE and wiped it back a little, off of the glazed circles.

I then inked the edges of the base, and the torn edges of the large polka dot paper ( it was a give away at the DAY at the BEACH CROP that I attended the day I made this layout ( hosted by Scrap-a-Doodle Doo ! )

with Quick Quotes Powder Puff BLUE HAWAIIN Chalk Ink - ( LUV this Stuff!) and glued it onto the base on an angle.

The FENCE was a find at one of the big box stores around here from a few years ago. I included the "tickets" from the excursion, and thought the seashells looked nice in that corner ...shhh... don't tell, but they are not from Sicily -but that can be our little secret - okay?

Here you can see a photo I snuck in behind the journaling tag (that I painted around the edges with the INCHWORM and TEAL HIGH HEELS Chalkboard Glimmer mist.) It is a picture of a post that we passed when we got back on board the Disney Magic. I guess people thought it seemed that the thing "to do" when you returned from a shore excursion, was to take off your MICKEY EARS sticker, that had your group/tour # on it, off of our shirt and add it to this post -- It really made a cool photo opp, so I had to include it too!

Here is a close up of the fence - It was a natural wood with white wire connecting. I "hit" it with a little white acrylic paint "here and there" and then sprayed it with Tattered Angels Chalkboard Glimmer Mist, INCHWORM, and TEAL HIGH HEELS, then a little Sugar Maple Glimmer mist -brushed on with a paint brush - I added a little BLUE HAWAIIAN Powderpuff Chalk haphazardly too!

I LOVE how it came out - I hope you do too!

Our son Nick graduated from Franklin Pierce University this past weekend - Magna Cum Laude!!! with a BA in Mass Communications ( Media Studies / Media Production)

I CAN NOT begin to tell you how PROUD we are of him!

This photo was take at the Honor's Convocation Ceremony that was held on May 6th. It is not the best quality photo, as I had to take it with my cell phone - because while I remembered my camera, I left my SD card at home in the computer!! I changed the color and style in photo shop, and even though it is a little blurry, his SMILE shines through, and I am happy with the results!

I made this layout to remember that special day. I had hope to enter it into the Polkadot Door Design May Inspiration Challenge - and thought the cut off day was May 18th - BUT it was actually May 15th - so I was not able to submit it. - That is OK - I love the "challenge" of a "good challenge" - and the work that is created out of it - I hope you like what I came up with!!

For the challenge ( that I missed! - Oh well!) - the RULES were: Create a paper crafting project (card, layout, off-the-page item), based on provided inspiration (photo, sentiment, or element : crocheted flowers). Here is the photo for inspiration:

I incorporated the pinwheel, crocheted flower and SMILE from the inspiration, and I LOVE how this page came out! The Basic Grey CURIO Line is just beautiful, and I had so much fun using it again in this layout.

All of the INGREDIENTS can be found on my post to my Scrapbook.com Gallery and were purchased at Scrap-a-Doodle Doo

I LOVE the base of this Layout - it is Bazzill's Glazed Chipboard "Grandma's Damask" sprayed with Tattered Angel's GLIMMER MIST in Maple Sugar and Turquoise Blue - then edged with Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Stains in Wild Honey. All of the torn edges were torn and folded with a water distressing technique, and inked with the Wild Honey too! If you look below, at the bottom, middle of the photo you will see that I added an old dictionary page with the words "graduate" and "graduation" on it ( after I sprayed it with a little GLIMMER MIST in "Old Lace!"

HERE is a Dusty Attic Chippie (from DA0506 Foliage)- I first ran all the chippies through my Cuttle Bug with the TEXTILE distressing folder - I then inked this one and the smaller one in the bottom left corner - up real good with Quick Quotes Powderpuff "Tahiti" Chalk - then some Ranger Distress VersaMark, and some TeaDye Ranger Distress Embossing powder - hit is with my heat gun - and then brushed some Dried Marigold Distress Stickles on the brown spots - after that had dried - I painted on some Tattered Angles TIDE POOL Glimmer GLAM - I am LOVIN' how it can out and REALLY LOVIN' playing with Dusty Attic Chippies!

The Pinwheel was made by tearing paper ( All the paper used in this layout are Basic Grey's CURIO Line) The edges were then inked with the Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Stains in Wild Honey. There is another little DA Chippie from the same set in this bottom left corner - along with a crocheted flower that a friend made, and that I "painted" with a little "OLD LACE" Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. The FILM Strip "Ribbon" is from Tim Holtz Idea-ology, and the camera eyelet, and "Explore" brad have been in my scrap stash for a while!

Can you see the lace on the right - by the DREAM Tim Holtz Ticket? I got that while on a B'day get-a-way weekend with my hubby last June! I love having it "peak" out from the torn area's on the page.
The SMILE letters are Maya Road chipboard alphas that were colored with Quick Quotes Powderpuff "Tahiti" Chalk, then some Distress Dried Marigold Stickles, and finally some Tattered Angles TIDE POOL Glimmer GLAM to make the word POP! I think it does - do you!?

This pretty little swirl chippie is from the same DUSTY ATTIC collection - there are 2 - on on top and one on the bottom of the photo. First I ran them through the TEXTILE embossing folder - then I inked it with the Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Stains in Wild Honey, then I hit the top ridges with Powderpuff BLOODY MARY chalk ink -then I sprayed them with TATTERED ANGLES Old Lace Glimmer Mist. After it had dried - I then gave it a nice heavy coat of ROYAL COAT Dimensional Magic
OH - do you see the STITCHING along the left and right edges of this Layout?? all done by hand - thank you very much!! There is also BLACK "FAUX" Stitching on the brown flower cutout under the photo!

Here is a close up of my little friend - the CHIPPIE! Seriously - you have GOT to get some of these and try playing with them - LOTS of CREATIVE FUN!!

I LOVE Dusty Attic laser cut embellishments!

I went to a wonderful weekend crop, hosted by SCRAP-A-DOODLE DOO this weekend, and had a BLAST with my scrappy friends ( as always!) I finally had a chance to play with some DUSTY ATTIC laser cut embellishments! ( and lots of other goodies too!) I have to tell you I am HOOKED!! They are so much fun, and are a blank slate - just waiting for you to make them your own and customize them for your layout or project! Ya gotta try them!!

ALL of the items used in this layout were purchased at SCRAP-A-DOODLE DOO too!

Our son Jake took this photo of my hubby and I, while we visited EPCOT this past December - I loved the colors, and couldn't wait to use the photo in this layout! I have to THANK my friend NATASHA for all her inspiration and tutorials, and for sharing of her ideas and AMAZING talent! Check out her BLOG to see her AWESOME WORK!!

I used layers of Basic Grey's Curio Collection that I water distressed, tore and folded, along with Core'dinations Black Magic, and LOTS of embellishments!

I LUV this Dusty Attic Swirl! I actually cut off a piec of it and added it at the bottom of the picture too! I inked the leaves with Peeled Paint Distress Ink, the Birds with Faded Jeans Distress Ink, and the vine/swirl with Fired Brick Distress ink. I added Waterfall and Orange Crush Glimmer Glaze by Tattered Angels, along with Espresso, Be Positive, and Mermaid Glimmer Glaze, then some Shabby Shutters, Vintage Photo, Dried Marigold and Frayed Burlap Distress Stickles! This stuff just LOVES layers and adds so much to your page ( you can find it at Scrap-a-doodledoo.com too!)

I first inked the Dusty Attic Hinge with Fired Brick Distress Stain, (love this stuff too!) then a coat of Tattered Angels' BE Positive Glimmer Glam, and finally some Vintage Photo Distress Stickles. The pearls for brads were made with a Bronze Pearl Pen - the brown "lace" is paper that was water distressed inked and folded. I used up lots of the Tim Holtz embellishments that I've been "collecting" too!

Ouchless Cardboard is my "friend" and a great base. I added a little white acrylic paint, then some Espresso and Be Positive Glimmer Glam. I added some Bronze Pearls from a Pearl Pen to the faux lace, and a little sneak piece of real lace in there too! - look at that luscious Dusty Attic swirl too!

This flower was made out of beige cardstock, that I cut out on the Cricut - I used Natasha Aguirre's Gardenia Flower technique, inked the edges with Mocha Mama Powder Puff Chalk, and used a paint brush to add some Sugar Maple and Turquoise Blue Glimmer Mist, and topped it all off with Dried Marigold Distress Stickles. The Corrugated Kraft Alphas by Jillibean Soup were inked up with just about all of the Glimmer Glaze and Glam previously listed, along with some Mermaid Glimmer Glam for added sparkle!

Here is a side view of the flower - I love how it came out! Layers are my friend - if you haven't noticed! Check out Natasha's tutorial on her blog -the flowers are FUN to make too! Oh - and THANKS to my good friend Pattie for sharing her costume jewelry, I love the dimension and texture it adds to the layout too!

Button, Button, who's got the Button?

Well, I really really tried to play with my friends over at THE DOLLHOUSE ie: the DESIGN DOLLIES BLOG in this month's element's challenge - BUT - I missed the deadline by ONE DAY !

But ALL is NOT LOST - I still get to share this cute Layout with you!

The challenge was to do a layout or card with AT LEAST 7 Buttons - so this would have been my entry. Please allow me to share it with you.

We were fortunate to get to spend a week in Disney at the end of December with my family, my brother's family and my parents, to celebrate their Anniversary. I LOVE DISNEY - and so do my kids - even though they really aren't kids anymore - but DISNEY brings out the kid in all of us - and we really had a GREAT time!

One of the few movies my hubby, 2 sons and I have seen together lately was Toy Story 3. My oldest son Nick is 22 - and his favorite character in the movie was LOTSO HUGGIN' BEAR! ( By the way - Nick is graduating college next month - his Major is Mass Communications - with a concentration in Media Production & Media Studies -- if anyone knows of any job openings - please contact me !! )

So - anyway - when he saw that LOTSO had a Meet & Greet in Disney's Hollywood Studios - he and I went over and got on line to see him! Here is the layout I made with Photos from our LOTSO meeting:

There are 17 buttons- counting the BIG Pink one
- but not counting the felt buttons in the frame around the large photo.

YES - he REALLY DID SMELL LIKE STRAWBERRIES!

Notice all of the buttons are stitched on the layout?
I have a problem with putting buttons on a layout
that have not either been sewn on
or had thread knotted through them - one of my "must dos"

SO - there you have it - my BUTTON Layout!
Hope you like it and you go pull out your buttons and start creating too!

WoW - Where has the year gone?

It is hard to believe that this coming Sunday is ONE YEAR, since I filmed my "Video Debut" for Cheerios, (LOL!)

I was selected to talk about being Heart Healthy, so that I could enjoy my PASSION for something that I LOVE TO DO -- Scrapbooking and Cherishing Memories - of course!

I am very happy with and proud of how the video came out, as it truly captures my feelings for scrapbooking, and the joy I get while I am creating. Yes, it even features my FAVORITE Scrapbook Store Scrap-a-Doodle Doo and some of my GOOD FRIENDS too! It was really a GREAT DAY!
